How I Caught the Triathlon Bug

I had always wanted to try a triathlon and one summer there was an event close to home I borrowed a bike for and gave it a shot. If it hadn’t have been for my younger brother, Jake, I would have swam off into the weeds. I had transition times approaching 5 minutes. I thought transitions were a time I could sit down and energize for the next leg (this was a sprint distance). Coming off that spectacularly horrible performance I thought “I bet I could go faster” so I did another one a few weeks later and took off nearly 15 minutes. From then on I was hooked and obsessed with seeing how much faster I could go and how great I felt training. It gave me an outlet from studying and since I didn’t come from a background in any of the 3 disciplines I became motivated by the performance gains I was making. In the process of traveling across the border to MN I started meeting great people and friends I will have for life. Somewhere along the way I caught the attention of Team EMJ. The entire team is very humble and supportive in all aspects of live. They welcomed me right in like we had known each other for years. And they are fast!! This is my 4th season racing proudly for Team EMJ. Glad to be a part of such a great group of guys as well as great ambassadors of the sport! #Hooked
