How I Caught the Triathlon Bug
After graduating from Penn State in 2008, I realized my competitive soccer days were over so I requested a road bike for my birthday. The next year I was racing my roommate around Presque Isle Park in Erie, PA during evenings after long work days. In 2012, I signed up for my first official triathlon without any swimming background and ended up 210/300 out of the water and slowly started moving towards the front once I found land. The rush of energy about the event, the people, and the experience left me wanting more. I immediately became interested in longer distance triathlon (IM) and signed up for Lake Placid in 2014. Without proper training and horrible nutrition I ended up qualifying for Kona World Championships and got a coach. In 10 weeks I became addicted and the last 4 years I have steadily improved! The rest is history.
