How I Caught the Triathlon Bug
Years ago (1990) after riding half way around the world by bicycle I wanted to translate my fitness into something competitive. Since I had a swimming background I began to train for triathlon when I returned to Canada after my 18 month bike tour trip. I did not have a clue as to how to train but I moved forward through trial and error and found personal rewards through being active and fit. I turned my chunky 230 lb Intercollegiate Varsity football body into a somewhat fit endurance body. Triathlon became a passion and a great method to measure my fitness. IM has become the ultimate challenge which tests the body, but more importantly for me, IM tests my mental resolve and pushes me to fight and make choices facing adversity like nothing else can replicate.
