How I Caught the Triathlon Bug
I was at the University of British Columbia and they had a triathlon as part of their intramurals in 1989. I thought I would try it, and was hooked! I went on do some sprints that year and met a girl who volunteered at Ironman Canada; she told me all about catching people who were staggering across the finish line, and I thought I had to try it! My first IM was in 1991 (I have now done 21), and although I had no idea what I was doing, I finished 5th in my age group and qualified for Kona. I guess I never really looked back from there.
