How I Caught the Triathlon Bug

The sport of triathlon has always been an unshakeable inevitability for me. I grew up running both cross country / track in high school as well as college with some success.  Because these two sports did not fall in back to back seasons I was able to stray away from the “Trials of Miles” and follow my dad out the door for a simple bike ride a couple times a week. It was my dad that put the idea of doing triathlons in my head more than 8 years ago. As my running career came to a close it was a very simple switch to the sport of triathlon, the only problem was I had to learn to swim. Now 3 years later I still have not learned to swim, as far as Ritch is concerned. But being in this sport and interacting with the EMJ team has been one of the highlights of my athletic career.
