How I Caught the Triathlon Bug

My first triathlon was one week after my junior collegiate track season. I bought my first road bike that week and borrowed a friend’s wetsuit. I swam once and road my bike a total of 10 miles in preparation for the race. I had no idea how I would do, but I was curious to try it out. Needless to say, the race was terrible, but an absolute blast. My T1 time was over 4 minutes, which was 3 minutes slower than most. I had no idea how to get out of the wetsuit since it was my first time ever wearing one. I had a decent bike ride. Surprisingly, I found going from T2 to the run to be an exhilarating experience. The awkward, jello-like feeling in my legs was the most incredible, out-of-body experience and I was hooked. That feeling is something I wanted to experience again. I absolutely loved it then and still do today.
