How I Caught the Triathlon Bug

I ran cross-country through HS and college and post-collegiately have run 18 marathons with a personal best of 2:37:09. In October 2012, I had my first (and only) serious running injury ever and broke my foot forcing me to take time completely off my feet. I had always been interested in triathlon and have dabbled a bit without much commitment or success. Two weeks after my injury, I signed up for IM Wisconsin 2013. With an accelerated training cycle and a few summer practice races, I was ecstatic to go 10:36 in my first Ironman, and I was hooked. It was in 2016, when I finally committed to not just being a runner that does triathlons, and began training for triathlons year round.
