How I Caught the Triathlon Bug
I’ve been a competitive athlete all of my life. It is something that really is a core part of who I am. So when I finished college and stopped rowing competitively I found that I had a bit of a hole. A good friend at the time, who now is my coach, was training for Ironman Canada. He challenged me to race a local olympic distance race with him that year. After trying it once, I was hooked! I found that I loved the training, and by balancing all three sports I could push myself harder in each without getting too much into a rut and getting bored. It worked out perfectly! Now, going into my 14th season, it has become a part of my life that I couldn’t imagine not doing. Training and racing are the outlets that allows me to be better and more focused in all the other parts of my life.
